As the world continues to swoon over the iPad and as Kindles become more common to see in waiting rooms and on planes and trains than, you know, books, isn’t it nice to have some familiar and favorite tales covered in appropriately beautiful new threads?
Take a look at Penguin Books’ new line of classics, designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith —including Alice in Wonderland, Lady Chatterley’s Lover and Emma —which have covers as nice to look at as their text is to read. Robert Louis Stevenson’s time-honored adventure story Treasured Island is adorned with tropical orange parrots; The Odyssey, by Homer, is quite reasonably imprinted with stylish waves. The books are available through Amazon and Anthropologie, and would make excellent gifts—though it’s completely understandable if you want to spiff up your own bookshelf. (from A Very Short List)
